Extinguished, by my daughter Kelsey

Here's a rough draft of a song my daughter is working on. After I get back from Holidays, we are going to look into getting her some guitar lessons. That way she can put music to these lyrics. Then I'll have to make a copy with my Garageband program and share it with you all. There are typo's in her song, but look past that and enjoy how it flows. She is very talented.

Lyricz: part 1 (rough draft)

Extinguished:
(fire alarm)
Chief:c'mon men, we got a fire to fight!
men:yes sir!
-sirens while fire truck drives off-
Lets save this place, lets save these people! c'mon crew, we got work to do! fire fire fighter. lets get this extinguished, extinguished, the fire or the life, the fire or the life. Extinguished.

Water full to the top, ready to shoot at will,as we go back in again for a lil girl. don't come back till everyones out. terrorist or teenagers, theres a fire for fire fire fighters. dont let a heart skip a beat, don't die from all the heat, lets just do this and get it done. after all, they deserve fun.

Lets save this place, lets save these people! c'mon crew, we got work to do! fire fire fighter. lets get this extinguished, extinguished, the fire or the life, the fire or the life. Extinguished.

Men men rushin in, time and time and time again. How many times have I saved a life? who's countin, who cares? as long as they're safe then thats ok. nobody deserves to die, not like this, a fire or a flicker or a flame and your in terrible pain. Cover your shoulder and ill cover your right, c'mon over so we can fire fight.

Lets save this place, lets save these people! c'mon crew, we got work to do! fire fire fighter. lets get this extinguished, extinguished, the fire or the life, the fire or the life. Extinguished.

Water water runnin low, runnin runnin, walkin slow. We're gettin old and life gettin tough. I think we've all had enough, life is young, we cant do this now. we all got our wives and 5 kids by now. whos there to save but the ever next day? whos gunna cry when every1 dies? the battle is over but the wars just begun. fires are eternal, as eternal as the sun.

-fire truck parks back in the fire depot.-

I dedicate this song to all those brave solidiers of fire all over the world. we're all counting on you!

The sales for this song will be given to fire departments all over this includes forest fire facilities like cifac.

ffffreeeeezzziiinngg

OK this morning it was freezing cold outside. -30c with a wind chill factor making it feel like-45c. That's way too cold for my liking. I knew it was getting cold because I could hear the furnace turn on several time during the night. When I went into my car to start it this morning the seat was rock hard, frozen stiff. My poor little car started but she didn't sound all too happy about the cold. I let it warm up for 20 min. and it was still cold inside, but bearable. Luckily Sean will be getting my car because his goes in for a check up today. So, that means I don't have to go out in the cold to start my car. There are only 2 plug ins in the parking lot at work, so we have to let the press trucks use them.

I am sure we are really going to enjoy our holidays because we are getting away from this cold weather. We are getting the truck checked, just to make sure that everything is running good. We wouldn't want to miss our flight because of a break down. We will be leaving in plenty of time and staying overnight at a hotel near the airport. 5 freezing days left til we leave!

The sun is shining

It may be -18, but the sun is out and that is all it takes me to be happy. There is just something about the sunshine that brings a smile to my face. I really miss seeing it over the winter months. Yet, I find it so beautiful when the sun shines on the snow and makes the trees glow and the mountains shine. Right now the sun is so bright shining into my office window that I actually had to close the blinds because I cannot see my computer screen.
Of course we all all getting excited about our holidays and now we are only at 10 sleeps left and 1 of those sleeps will be in Vancouver. The sun is shining in California and the weather is nice and warm there right now. How perfect of a time to be going on a holiday when there is still so much snow and cold temperatures here. I'm sure we will have a blast! Who doesn't like Disneyland? I think even if my dad actually went, he would have a good time too.

The floor plan we like

Planning more reno's

Most of you know that I live in a mobile home and we have been renovating it in hopes of selling it to get a "real house". We still have a lot of work to do and cannot wait for the snow to melt so we can finish the siding. That is going to be a big job because we saved the hardest for last. The front of our trailer is quite a bit higher from the ground, so we will have to use the ladder. I m sure it will all work out just fine(: After we are done with the siding, our next project is to renovate the porch. Right now our porch is painted sponge style blue & white to look like clouds. It looks like it's trapped in the late 80's, early 90's. If we want to sell it, we'll have to make a better first impression. Luckily, the porch is small and won't cost a lot to update(: After the porch is done, we are going to rip out the carpet in the spare room and put down laminate flooring and paint in there as well. We already have the laminate flooring, so that won't be a very costly job either. Then it's just finishing the odds and ends and we should be good to sell by the end of summer.
The reason we are so anxious to get the reno's done is.....we found the perfect house plans for a home we want to build. The hardest part will be finding the perfect land to build on. Let's face it, I am going to be very picky. First of all, I don't want to live more that 5-10 min. from town, Second of all I refuse to live on a steep hill and have a steep driveway. Third of all I don't want to boxed in so close to the neighbors. It might be tough, but we have 2 years to find the land.
Our neighbor across the street wants to buy our place and has offered for us to live in his house while we build. I'll have to think about that one(: Maybe it's just a dream, but hopefully we can pull it off. I would love to have a nice house one day!

I'll post the house plans at a later date, so stay tuned!

Being Positive about the snow

A friend of mine had a post about being positive. I thought a lot about that while I was outside this morning shoveling the driveway. If you've been to my house, you would remember my steep driveway. So, when it snows, there is no way I can get my car out of the driveway with out getting stuck. Which means I need to shovel first. Luckily Sean has a 4X4 and can get out easily. I'm not that lucky. He went to work this morning and I told him not to worry about the driveway because I wasn't planning on going any where today. I have no idea how to work the snow blower. I decided I would get a head start by shoveling the driveway by hand, so that Sean doesn't have to do it tonight. Well, it took me about an hour and a half to shovel it and by the time I came back in to the house I was sweating. It is very hard work, but I certainly felt like I had my cardio work out for the day. Now I feel really good and can relax and enjoy the rest of the day.
While I was shoveling, 2 girls from Jehovah's Witness wanted to talk to me, but I said I was far too busy. They left right way. I was surprised because the last time some Johovah's Witness came I was also out shoveling and they thought they could read me a scripture while I shoveled. No thanks. Perhaps they would want to help shovel with me? Not likely!
Another positive twist on the snow is, we will really enjoy our holiday in California where there is no snow and plenty of sunshine. We leave in 2 weeks and we are all starting to get very excited. So, hopefully when we come back from holidays there will be signs of spring here in the puddle.

More Reasons to hate the snow

This was my driveway this afternoon when I came home. The snow was almost 2 feet high blocking my driveway, thanks to the plow truck. I guess he felt bad because my car was parked at the top of the driveway; he plowed most of the snow out of the driveway. No one else in the neighborhood had as much snow pushed in their driveway as we did. At least I was able to finally get down the driveway. If it's cold tonight, I'll need to be able to plug my block heater in.

The New MacBook Air

I just watched a commercial on the new Macbook Air. It is so thin that it fits in a 9X12 envelope and only weighs about 3 pounds. It looks awesome. I was hoping to get a Macbook this year with my income tax refund. The Macbook Air is out of my budget range...but I can dream can't I? Or I could save up for it. It looks so sweet!

We finally met Crystal

For those of you who don't know, Crystal is Sean's sister's youngest daughter. She is living with Sean's cousin and was previously in Foster Care in Campbell River. We first met Crystal when she was only 1yr. old and she is now 3 1/2yrs old. Sean says she is a mini me version of her mom. I thought she was very cute. She has been in Williams Lake for almost a month now, but is still quite shy. I was surprised she wanted me to pick her up. We are hoping to visit with Crystal and her sister Alisha (who also lives with our cousins and is the same age as my daughter) on a regular basis. I wanted to take pictures, but thought that might be too much for our 1st visit. We want her to get to know us and be comfortable around us. Crystal loves anything to do with Dora the Explorer. We are hoping to bring the kids back a souveneir from our Trip to Disney next month.

3 Happy Years of Wedded Bliss

It is hard to believe that we just celebrated our 3rd anniversary yesterday. It seems like only yesterday we were all at The Hills in the freezing cold. My nephew, Brian, is writing an essay for school about his best vacation and he picked our Wedding. It was so beautiful with all the snow on the trees. The kids enjoyed tubing (even though the lift wasn't working), snow shoeing, skating, snow boarding, swimming and spending time with their cousins. Too bad it was so cold that weekend and my best friend & her family had to drive through a terrible snow storm to get there as well as my sister and her family. The Chapel was beautiful, the food was fabulous and the fellowship was awesome. We stayed in the Honeymoon suite and it had a jacuzzi tub. I still remember the rose petals (that we didn't know were bath bubbles) that bubbled up to the ceiling. So, we had to cut our tub time short and we were so busy we never went back in it again. One day we'll have to have a romantic weekend away and try the jacuzzi tub again with out the bubbles(:

Last night we went to Trattorias Pasta Shop for dinner with my parents and my kids. The food was fantastic, as always. We also enjoyed some Chardonay white wine with our dinner. To finish off we had whipped cheese cake with strawberries, raspberries, black berries and blue berries. It was so yummy, I had to finish it even though it was such a huge piece (and it was rich too). It was great to enjoy the full meal deal. The bill wasn't as bad as I thought it would have been. Then we rented Rush Hour 3 and we decided to watch it in our room. The new bed is so comfortable. We rented the kids The Simpson's Movie, so they would have something to watch. Besides it was toonie night at the video store, so both movies cost less than the cost to rent 1 on a regular night. There wasn't much to choose from for movies, but we enjoyed our movie.

I am really blessed to have such a wonderful husband and it really has been 3 happy years of wedded bliss.

The Big Comfy Bed

Our new bed is super huge. When I sit on it my feet cannot touch the floor. It's a Sealy Crown Jewel Collection Pillow Top bed. We bought it on Boxing Day when it was 50% off. They didn't have our bed in stock, so it was on order and arrived yesterday. Now we have to buy new night stands because I can barely reach the alarm clock and the lamps are way too low for proper reading while in bed. I usually go to work with Sean on Fridays, but today I just wanted to stay in the big comfy bed. We discovered that the reason our old bed was uncomfortable was because one of the legs on the bed frame was partially broken, so we didn't really need a new bed just a new bed frame. It's here to stay now and after sleeping in it last night all I can say is it felt like I was floating on a cloud in Heaven.(:
