Car Pictures

Here's some pictures of my VW minites before it broke down on Dewdney Trunk & 216th. Luckily I have BCAA and they towed me to an approved shop and we had the car fixed. The repair bill wasn't all that bad and we are hoping to get re-imbursed since it was an error by the mechanic in WL that put the part on a couple of weeks ago. The ride home was great. We left the top down from Maple Ridge to Cache Creek.

I've added a few pictures to my web album of baby Kate. She is super cute! Click on the link on my blog (on the left)

Summer is winding down

The weather over the last few weeks have reminded me of the fall. I must admit I am looking forward to the coming fall season. Life gets back into routine for us in the fall. I also have to confess that I only made it riding my bike to work for the 1st two weeks of August. I am blaming it on the crisp, cool and rainy weather in the mornings over the last 2 weeks. The cold wind blowing on my face and hands while biking down the connector, causing my eyes to water, was a bit more than I wanted to handle. But, I'm ok with that and perhaps if we get nice weather next week I would consider riding my bike to work again. My other excuse is my ankle is swollen and has been since mid-June. I went to see my doctor yesterday and the tissues in my ankle are inflamed from a bug bite I had in June. The bug bite has healed, but the doctor told me it will take 3-6 months to completely cure the swelling. It's because of the bug biting me right at my joint on my ankle. So the good news is it will eventually go away with time in the next 2 weeks to 3 months. He told me to ice my ankle every day and wear good supportive foot wear. Darn it, all I wear in the summer is flip flops! He did say that my flip flops were ok to wear occasionally, but if I was hiking or biking or walking long distances, I had better wear my socks and Nike runners. I guess I can live with that.

I can hardly wait for this day to be over. After work today we are heading to Maple Ridge for the weekend and staying at my sister's house. We have 3 days off to enjoy visting with friends and family. I am looking forward to meeting baby Kate for the first time. I am also giving my nephew his birthday gift early. He will be 7 on Sept. 13th. My car is at the shop right now getting the brakes worked on. I am really hoping that they get it done quickly, so we can leave right after work this afternoon. If it is not ready for some reason, we still have Sean's rides we can take, but they cost more in gas. So, keep your fingers crossed that all goes well today with my car. I see on the weather forecast that we are in for more rain over the weekend! Yuck! We might be going through Kamloops on Monday, but it's supposed to be cloudy there too. Is this really the end of summer?

Wild Hogs; a movie my hubby and I both enjoyed

We rented Wild Hogs last night and we thought it was a very halarious movie. If you haven't watched it yet, it's worth getting. Tim Allen and John Travolta are a good mix. I won't get into the details about the movie, but there were several times both my hubby and I were laughing our heads off. If you've seen it, let me know what you thought of it. I know this kind of movie isn't for everyone.

Sara Bunker went home

Sara Bunker is my mom's goldfish and she was visting us while my parents were on holidays. First, my hubby is thinking it's dumb to babysit a fish and wondered why they didn't just put in a fish feeder while they were away. My mom was worried that it would get too hot in their house and Sara would parish. I told Sean it wouldn't be a big deal to have the fish at our house for 2 weeks. She only needs to be fed in the morning and if the light is turned on in the morning then she's been fed. Sean did most of the feeding and I would catch him talking to the fishy fishy, as her called her. Then he's putting his finger in the fish tank and trying to play with the fish. She actually allowed Sean to pet her. Last week Sean was showing me that the fish could recognize him, so when ever he went by the fish tank, Sara would follow him around (well as best as she could in the tank). I think Sean really enjoyed having Sara around. I don't think we will be getting our own fish, but it was fun to watch. Fish do make good pets.

Summer is sure going by quick

It sure has been quiet around my house since the kids left for their month vacation with their Dad. I've had to mow my lawn, something I haven't done for a long time since Mike does that chore for us (we pay him to do it). We miss you Mike. I also have to do the dishes and clean the house with out the kids' help. Well, at least we don't make a terrible mess, so clean up is a cinch. Actually, my kids do really well with keeping the house clean. I guess money really motivates them. They get a small allowance for doing chores around the house. They are not old enough to get jobs, so they need to work around the home for their own spending money. I am looking forward to them returning home in 2 weeks. I really miss them when they are gone (and not only because of their chores). I hope they are having a great holiday. I decided to buy all their school supplies yesterday. I was going to pick their school supplies up when I go to Vancouver this weekend, but decided that I didn't want to waste my entire visit on shopping. Well, I still need my Costco trip. Now if only my kids like what I bought them. There was no way I wanted to wait to do back to school shopping until the long weekend before school goes back in. That is just crazy... you kow like shopping on Christmas Eve! Kels is going to high school, so I want to make sure she has some nice clothes, so we'll go shopping mid. Sept. and Mike just needs a few new shirts. I bought them each a connection cord for their i-pods so they can hook it up to their i-mode radio alarm clocks. I was thinking of getting Kels a desk for her room, but I'm sure there is not enough room. Darn mobile homes and their small bedrooms. I just wanted her to have a place to set up her laptop and do homework (since I'm sure there will be lots of homework in high school). She usually sits on her bed and that cannot be good for her posture. Perhaps Sean will make her a corner desk. The leaves are already starting to turn yellow, a sure sign that fall is almost here. I cannot believe that the summer is almost over and the kids will be back to school in a couple of weeks. Where does all the time go?

What kind of puppy are you? I took this one and it turned out that a Beagle would suit me best. That's funny because my sister has a Beagle. We won't be getting a puppy anytime soon, but it was fun to do.
You Are a Beagle Puppy

Cheerful, energetic, and happy go lucky.
And you're sense of smell is absolutely amazing!

Here's another one. Rock, paper, scissors. It reminded me of a game we used to play at Crossroad. Gorrilla, man and gun.
You Are Rock

Powerful and overbearing, you intimidate people with your presence.
People know they can't push you around, and they respect that.
Deep down, you are calm, confident, and unmovable.
You take everything pretty seriously, and you think deeply about all aspects of your life.

You tend to feel smothered by paper people.

You don't mind crushing the spirit of a scissors person.

When you fight, you: Use all of your strength

If someone makes you mad: You're likely to throw something at them

Sad news, Darrel's Best Man passed away

Wendt, Toni Saturday, 04 Aug 2007
Chilliwack Progress Chilliwack, BC

(Dec. 12, 1971 - Aug. 4, 2007)
It is with a profound sense of loss and great sadness that the Wendt family announces the sudden passing of Toni, 35 years old in Yarrow. He is survived by his parent’s Willi and Monika and his brother, Armin. He will be greatly missed by the Tutt Family and his long-time friend Darrel Jensen as well as numerous friends in Chilliwack and Hope.
The measure of a man’s life is not how long he lived but the affect he had on people and how he touched them. Toni was born in Rio de Janeiro Brazil and has resided in the Hope and Chilliwack area since 1981. He attended Hope Secondary and graduated in 1989. Having been a Truck Driver and transitioning to a Ferrier in 2002, he touched many people with his quick wit, zest for life, meticulous and dedicated hard work. He had a commanding presence and self-assured attitude so to know him was to love him.
An “open house” casual gathering of Toni’s family and friends to celebrate his life will be held at the Tutt Farm, 6006 Unsworth Road in Chilliwack on the 19th of August anytime after 2:00 pm.
You can shed tears that he is gone, you can smile because he has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that he will return, or open your eyes and see all that he has left. Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him, or you can be full of the life that you have shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember him and only that he’s gone, or you can cherish his memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back or you can do what he would want ... open your eyes, love and go on.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Children’s Hospital Foundation or the BC Therapeutic Riding Assoc. in Toni’s name.

My Friend had her baby today

Great news, my friend Robin had a baby girl today. She was 8lbs 3oz and she was born at 2pm today. They have named her Kate. Now Darrel will be over run with girls in the house 4 to 1. I am so happy for them.

As usual, the delivery went really quick for Robin. The doctor didn't make it in time, so baby was delivered by the nurse. I am going to see them in less than 2 weeks. I thought she was having a boy, but really we are thankful for this healthy baby. I guess they almost didn't get to the hospital on time. They had to drive from Maple Ridge to New Westminster. Baby wanted to come out in the emergency room while they were checking in. I hope to get some photos over the next couple of days so you can see this new bundle of joy.

When Robin called me she sounded so happy. What joy a new born brings.

What's Your Summer Ride?

Well I must say I am very fond of Volkswagon. I would have loved to own a Convertible Bug, but those beetles are way too much for my slim budget. I've decided that I like the Volkswagon Cabriolet Golf Convertible. It's sleek and sporty. It even fits 4 people, well maybe 2 adults and 2 kids. Here's a couple of pictures of this fine automobile. We showed up last night with this car as a surprise to my sister and my friend. Too bad it's rainy today!

I like because.....my hubby bought me one on August 9th. It's the same color as the above picture. It was just so cool how it all came into reality. We had been discussing getting me a fun car because my hubby has his 62 Pontiac to tinker on. I told him for my 40th birthday ( in 5 years) I'd like an older Convertible. We were talking about convertibles and what ones I like. He saw a Fiat Spyder in the paper for $4000, but I told him that was too much money to shell out. Then we were out cruising when we saw the Volkswagon Cabriolet Converible drive by and it had a for sale sign in the window. The funny thing is we tried to speed up to the car to read the phone number, but the guy turned off and we didn't want to be stalkers. The next morning I am checking the classifieds email at work and here is the car we saw for sale and he was placing an ad in our paper to sell it. The price was more in our price range. So, I took it for a spin and Sean drove it and we decided it suited me. The fellow took our offer and now it's mine. It does need some minor work, but that's what Sean likes to do, tinker on older cars. Now if the weather would smarten up, I'll be able to enjoy driving it with the top down. My hubby is so awesome. I'm very lucky.

My friend from work gave me this bookmark. It's from her daughter who is visiting from Florida. I thought it was so beautiful, so I decided to show it off.

Thought for the day

My friend in 100 Mile sent me this and I thought I would share it on my blog.

Are you like your mom?

As you can see, I am like my mom. Which, is ok with me. She is very sweet, but can drive you nuts at times...you know with all her singing. But that is way more better than having a grouchy negative mom. Although I think we are worlds apart in some of our beliefs, deep down she's taught me to be who I am and has supported me all the way. I can tell you this for sure, my daughter is just like her grandma (my mom), so it must run in our family.
You Are Somewhat Like Your Mom

Believe it or not, you and your mom are pretty darn similar.
It may not seem like it at times, but you and your mom have a lot of common ground.
Over time, you'll probably get closer ... especially if you emphasize the things you like about each other.

Brain Quiz

Since I am addicted to these quizes, here's another one. I made 9/10, but then I went back to change an answer that I was not sure of to see if I'd get 10/10 and I sure did. I'm not all that great with US geography. At least I can say I'm smarter than a 5th grader??? Maybe?
You Are Not Stupid

You got 10/10 questions right!
While acing this quiz doesn't prove you're a genius, you're at least pretty darn smart.

Facebook Rocks

I've been on facebook since April, but just recently more friends have joined up and I'm having a blast. I looked up some people I went to elementary school with and now we are keeping in touch. It's awesome. I've reviewed movies, had a food fight, sent lots of drinks and sent flowers to my friends' gardens. It is so much fun and it fills up some of my down time during the day. It is neat to see what everyone is up to. However, be warned...it gets addicting! So, I'm going to enjoy it while I can because come September I'll be super busy at work and with my kids in different schools! Here's the website!

PS.I rode my bike to work again this morning. It was a bit harder than yesterday because the wind was blowing against me.
