2007 is almost over

Wow it is really hard to believe that 2007 is almost over. Lots has happened this year; some good and some not so good. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. It was a great Christmas for us, but I missed my parents. They came back for Boxing Day dinner. My hubby loved his amp. I bought him and my kids were totally spoiled and I was really spoiled too. Now I'm back to work for 2 days and then have another 5 days off in Jan. We get an extra day off Jan. 2 is Wrestling Day here. Yippee for me because the kids will be home and we can spend some time together: probably playing Wii. I went Boxing Day Shopping yesterday and spent way too much money.( I noticed Zellers had Wii's in on Boxing Day;go figure, but they were full price!) We are getting a new bed; couldn't resist a 50% off offer and no payments for 3 months! I cannot wait for it to arrive because Sean has been getting a sore back from our bed and, well it is worn out. Hee hee hee! Worn out because it is old. What were you thinking? Enjoy the rest of the holidays and I wish you a safe and happy New Year!

13 Things I'm Thankful for

I was tagged by Robyn, so I thought I would share the 13 things I'm thankful for.
1)My wonderful hubby. He has been such a blessing in my life and treats me like a queen. He bought me my convertible this summer...just because. He's worked so hard on all the reno's around our place and has done a really good job.
2)My 2 children, Kelsey who is 13 and Mike who is 11. They are real treasures to me and are growing up so fast. They make our family complete.
3)My parents, who live in the same town. As quirky as they can be at times, I love them dearly and would be sad if we didn't live in the same town. They have been so wonderful with my kids and my mom gets to go to swimming and skating and goes to other school events that I can't go to because I have to work. I am thankful for her camera, so I can enjoy the pictures she takes.
4)My sister and her family. Growing up me and my sister were rivals, but now that we have both grown up (sort of) I would totally be lost with out her. Plus my 2 nephews are so great. It's nice to see them being so close to my kids. Mike and Brian are ichatting and playing rune scape together. It's like they can be together even when they are so far apart.
5) My friends. Robin, who has been my friend for 33 years. She's always been there for me and trust me; we've been through a lot. Also my friend Robyn, who moved away to the city of Regina. She's been a gift from God to me. At least we can keep in touch through emails and bloggings. I am thankful for my friend Brenda. When we get together, we always have a great time and we never get bored of each other. I like visiting her because we get to go to Starbucks and Chapters. We have similar interests in books and I always enjoy a walk through Chapters. I cannot wait for the day I can buy her novel at the book store. She is very talented and I enjoy having a fellow Mac lover for a friend. I am also thankful for all my other friends that I can keep in touch with on facebook.
6)I am thankful for my home and all the reno's that went on to make it feel more like a home and less like a trailer. I am hoping one day to be able to buy a real house. For now my I am happy with my house and the small mortgage payment that goes with it.
7) I am thankful for my health. I had some eye problems earlier this year, but now things seem to have settled down and I am eating healthy and excercising and feeling good about my self. Except when I eat too much sweets, but hey it's Christmas right?
8)It seems funny to be thankful for my job, but I really am. We could not survive if I didn't work. So, as bad as my job can be at times, I'm lucky to work full time days and have weekends off. Which makes sense when we get to reason #9
9)I am thankful for being out of debt other than mortgage and utility bills. This has enabled me to save up and we are going to Disney in 42 days.
10) I am thankful that I still have my grandma and grandpa. They are getting on in years, but they are still around and missed and loved every day. Lots of my friends don't have any living grandparents. It's just a sign that we are getting older.
11)I am thankful for Flavours Coffee shop. It's no Starbucks, but they make an awesome Maciatto. I love my coffee and I have 2 for 1 coupons, so I can treat my friends.
12)Oh yes I'm also thankful to have God in my life. I'm sad that we are churchless right now, but I am looking forward to changing that in the New Year. Maybe one day we can help with another church plant in another city, so we can finally move and get a house.(: All in his time, so I best be patient.(:
13) I am thankful for my Mac computer that is so awesome. Video chatting is awesome, so no more long distance phone calls to my friends with computers! Plus having the internet to email and keep in touch with everyone is awesome.

So, there you have it! I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Bad roads and bad drivers

Paramedics, firefighters, and search and rescue volunteers work to remove the driver from a car struck on Highway 97 Monday morning. The driver was taken to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. Another driver was taken to Cariboo Memorial Hospital.

On Monday there was a terrible car accident involving 5 cars at Hwy 97 S of Williams Lake. A 19 year old girl was t-boned on both sides of her car and was rushed to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. It all happened because a car was in a rush and cut off a truck, who tried to avoid the car and ended up spinning out of control. It will be a miracle if the 19 year old girl survives. She's in really bad shape. I wish people would slow down and think of others on the roads besides themselves.
Today I had a close call walking down town. I saw a truck at the stop light and there were some pedestrians crossing in front of them. The light had changed, but the pedestrians weren't quite across the street yet. Then the driver of the truck revs it's engine and I'm thinking to myself how rude that was. By this time I am crossing the street when that truck decides he is turning left and missed me just barely by maybe 2 inches. The people all around could not believe how arrogant this driver was being. I took down his liscense plate number, but I haven't decided whether it's worth my time to write a raspberry in our newspaper! I wish that those bad drivers out there would think before they drive so dangerously. Life is precious and you could be just rolling or strolling along and it could be over just like that. It sure makes me be even more cautious when I'm driving, especially when the roads are so bad. So, if you are driving and are in a hurry remember it's better to arrive late than not to arrive at all.

Our first real Christmas Tree

This tree is freaking huge. It didn't look so big when it was all strung up at the store we bought it from.It shed a lot of needles on my living room carpet when we were putting it up, but now it seems ok. We had purchased new LED lights for the tree. Our artificial tree came with the lights already on it, so it was a challenge to get the lights looking just right. The smell of the pine is fabulous. I might just be converted to getting a real tree from now on. I bought a new Angel for the top of the tree because my daughter wanted the snowflake tree topper for the tree in her room. Last night Kels and I finished all the Christmas baking, but she told me she still wants gingerbread cookies. I guess you are never to old for gingerbread cookies. I'm sure we'll have time this weekend to fit that in.

Frustrating Christmas Shopping

I finished up my Christmas shopping over the weekend. I didn't get the one thing my kids really wanted because it is sold out. So, unless there is a miracle in the next 2 weeks, they are out of luck. Yesterday was a terrible day in our household. We had gotten up early to go shopping at Walmart and we got home at 1:30pm. I decided to treat the kids to McDonalds. We did drive through and were over charged, but we caught it before we left and they refunded me just over $4. We get home to find that my son didn't get any sauce for his chicken nuggets and no fries. My daughter dropped her pop. The food wasn't all that great. I guess that is why I don't usually eat there. I was mad, so I went back into town and complained and they gave me the missing fries...oh sorry about that! My kids keep talking about how much they wanted a wii. This went on all afternoon. My son even went on line looking, but I told him I had already tried that route! It's so frustrating! The dinner table was dead silent. After dinner my hubby put on a movie; Christmas with the Kranks and that brightened up the mood. Plus I had a couple glasses of wine. Now we have to wrap up all the gifts. I'll probably give me kids an IOU for the wii. I'm sure I'll be able to get one by spring time!

I can't believe it is December

I just looked at the calendar and realized that Christmas is only 3 weeks away. I cannot believe how fast time has flown by. This is the first year my kids didn't get a chocolate advent calendar. I thought about it yesterday when we were out shopping, but I was told by the cashier they were all sold out. Their Dad didn't even get them one. Oh, well I'm sure they will survive. This year I think we are getting a real Christmas tree. My hubby is going to take the kids down our property and find a perfect tree for us. He bought new LED lights for the Christmas Tree. I hope they find a really skinny one because we just don't have a lot of room in our living room. We found a channel on the TV that has a fire on it, so I guess that can be our fire place to hang the stockings. One day we will have a house and lots of room for Christmas decorations. For now we are happily squished in our mobile. (:
Shopping on the weekend was very frustrating for us. They are sold out of a lot of items we wanted to get. Grrr. We might just have to take a trip out of town this weekend even if only to Walmart. I bought Sean his gift and I can hardly wait for him to open it. He's going to love it. (A big thank you to Stacy & Brenda for helping me pick it out). I had a great time with Stacy & Brenda this weekend. It's too bad it was so cold. I hope they are warmed up now that they are back home in Kamloops. I quite enjoyed doing yoga with them and I am going to try to do yoga on a daily basis. It sure feels good to stretch like that.
